Elizabeth Ndubuisi’s death:Dabiri-Erewa visits South African high Commission, seeks justice

The South African High Commission in Abuja has reacted to the killing of Elizabeth Ndubuisi, promising to ensure justice prevails.

The High Commissioner disclosed this while hosting the chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and the brother of the deceased.

The spate of killings and xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa have not abated in spite of the public anger generated when another Nigerian is reported killed .

The latest killing which is currently sparking outrage in the Nigeria is that of Elizabeth Ndubuisi-Chukwu

The Nigerian President and the Senate President have gotten involved both demanding that her murder be investigated and the perpetrators charged accordingly

The Chairman of Nigerians in diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri- Erewa paid a visit to the South African High Commission in Nigeria to convey the country’s displeasure at the killing of yet another one of her citizens

She said Nigerians are eager to see justice served as this death is one too many

The South African High Commissioner, Bobby Monroe condoles with the Ndubuisi-Chukwu family and says the government of South Africa has obtained a CCTV video of the incident which is aiding in the ongoing investigation

According to statistics, over 100 Nigerians have been killed in South Africa in the last two years through xenophobic attacks, cult clashes and police brutality

These wanton killings pose a great challenge to the fulfillment and implementation of the African Union protocol

The High Commissioner also assures Nigerians that the relationship between South Africa and Nigeria means a great deal and his country would ensure an end to these killings

Among efforts to mitigate the killings are the cultural exchanges the government of South Africa has continued to carry out to encourage mutual understanding between its nationals and Nigerians.
