Olufunke Olakunri: Ondo residents want Police to speed up investigation

The puzzle surrounding the death of Olufunke Olakunri, daughter of Afenifere leader, Reuben Fasoranti, is yet to be solved, as those behind the killing are still at large.

A week after she was buried, the police is yet to come up with information about identities of those who perpetrated the act.and Nigerians are not comfortable with the slow pace of investigation.

The country home of Fasoranti in Akure, Ondo state capital, hosted the high and the mighty in Nigeria after the death of Olufunke Olakunri, daughter
of Afenifere leader, Rueben Fasoranti.

The residence suddenly became a Mecca of sort for various visitors, who shunned political affiliations to condole with the Afenifere leader.

From Nigeria’s number two citizen, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the National leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu to serving and former governors, they were all united in their call for restructuring of the country’s security architecture.

The issue concerning the identities of the killers is still stirring controversy.

In the wake of the killing, Afenifere maintained its stand that Olufunke was killed by Fulani herdsmen, while the police gave a contrary view.

Now that Olufunke has been buried, how far has the police gone with their investigation? Spokesperson of the state Police command, Femi Joseph said the command is progressing in its investigation, some observers want the police to intensify efforts in the search for Olufunke’s killers.

Although, unmasking the identities of the killers cannot bring back Olufunke, many observers believe that arresting them will advance the cause
of justice in the matter.
