The first set of medical doctors trained at the Ekiti State University College of Medicine, Ado-Ekiti, have been employed by Governor Kayode Fayemi. They spent about ten years at the university, due to delays caused by accreditation issues, before the governor’s intervention.
Akin Ogunmola’s reports that what makes the maiden induction ceremony into the medical profession in the almost four decades history of Ekiti State University more emotional is the fact that the inductees would have left the College of Medicine about four years ago.
The students were denied the chance to write their final medical examination when Fayemi came in for his second term in office and he moved quickly to ensure that his administration met all the conditions holding these young Nigerians back on the campus.
The parents of the fresh medical doctors have also heaved a sigh of relief and are full of appreciation to the Governor.
The high point of the ceremony was the oath taking and the presentation of Provisional Licence to the new doctors.
