The Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria said it will step up its support of businesses in Nigeria to help such businesses compete with others around Africa.
This follows the recent signing of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area Agreement. Nigeria only recently signed the African Continental free trade area agreement.
Members of the organized private sector have already asked the authorities to put in place modalities that will assist local industries in keeping up with demands of the agreement.
This is in terms of an improved production output. But the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency is concerned that the existing Msme output may not match inflows of finished goods.
The agency assures it will play its part in empowering msmes with skills to prepare them for coming demands when the trade agreement comes into effect.
The Africa continental free trade area agreement aims to push up intra African Trade to fifty two percent by the year twenty twenty. It is also designed to help the continent become world’s largest free trade zone.
