A Niger delta group, PANDEF has accused the federal government of being intolerant of criticism and contrary opinions following the arrest and detention of the convener of the Revolution Now movement, Omoyele Sowore
The Pan-Niger delta forum says the government’s action is undemocratic.
In a statement, the Niger delta group through its spokesman, Dr. Alfred Mulade, asked the federal government to address the issues raised rather than crack down on citizens for exercising their rights to speech, association, and assembly.
But the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum described the Revolution Now protest as “meaningless” saying dialogue should be employed instead in resolving country’s challenges.
The President-General of the group, Yerima Shettima adds, quote “. We all can sit with the government at a round table to trash out issues affecting Nigerians. I strongly feel the call for a revolution at this period is meaningless.
