The Kaduna state government has filed for strict supervision of the medical leave granted leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim Elzakzaky and wife Zeenat before the state high court terms.
The government says it respects the right of anyone to seek treatment anywhere in the world.
It adds however that for persons facing trial for serious offences, safeguards are required to ensure such do not become fugitives from
justice.
At a media briefing Wednesday night, the government told newsmen that its request before the state high court is to ensure such persons do not frustrate trial by claiming asylum or the status of political prisoner in the host country.
