The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has condemned the attack on its operatives during an attempt to search the Ikoyi and Epe residences of former Governor of Lagos state Akinwunmi Ambode.
In a statement, spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, said the agency had obtained a valid warrant to conduct the search, denying it was an attempt to plant foreign currencies.
This he said is part of an ongoing investigation of alleged wrongdoing by Mr Ambode. He reveals three officers were injured and vehicles damaged during the attack by thugs, which he says was totally unprovoked.
The spokesman also claims the operatives were civil and did not molest anybody.
