The first phase of the Federal Housing Authority Mass Housing Scheme will be completed this year, with 3 billion naira already committed to it.Minister of State, Works and Housing, Abubakar Aliyu, disclosed this during an inspection of the project.
Correspondent Habidah Lawal reports that the Federal Government promised to address the housing deficit by delivering one million houses per year to close the 17 million shortfall by the year 2033.
The government had decided to improve on current construction of 100,000 houses per year in order to meet the basic needs of the people.
The Zuba project is one of the projects specifically designed to address the huge housing deficit for middle and low income earners. The project which was to be completed by August was delayed because of the rainy season.
Mr Abubakar also said that the problems associated with acquisition of lands would be addressed.
