He pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge on Friday before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Lagos State Special Offenses Court in Ikeja.
The senior advocate of Nigeria Is accused of making corrupt offers to two senior public officers of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and the Nigerian National Petroleum, Folakemi Adeloye and Ikechukwu Oguine, totaling 200,000 dollars.
The EFCC says the questionable payments were made on account of the roles they played in the arbitral proceedings instituted by Process and Industrial Developments Limited (P&ID) against Nigeria in November, 2014.
The alleged offenses are said to be contrary to Section 9(1)(a)(b) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2020.
The court granted the bail request of the lead defence Counsel, Yemi Candide-Johnson, SAN, to be released to him, upon no objection by EFCC Counsel, Bala Sanga, but with a condition to present the defendant at the next adjourned date.
