The Election Petition Tribunal in Yola has dismissed a suit challenging the election victories of the senators representing Adamawa North and South senatorial districts.
It also dismissed various suits brought against all members of the house of representatives elected in the state.
Owolabi Adenusi reports that Senators Cliff Abbo and Binos Yaroe representing Adamawa North and South senatorial districts, can now heave sighs of relief.
Cases brought before the election petitions tribunal by the APC’s Binta Masi Garba and Ahmad Mo-Allahyidi failed to stand the test of judicial
scrutiny as justice Sulaiman Akanbi held that the complainants had failed to provide credible evidence of over voting and other alleged
irregularities.
The tribunal further dismissed the case filed by Ovaldi Madayi of APC against the victory of Representative Laori Kwamoti of PDP for
Numan/Demsa/Lamurde Federal Constituency.
Also dismissed was that of Mucthar Kabiru of PDP challenging the victory of Abdulrazak Namdas of APC for Ganye/Toungo/Jada/Mayo-Belwa Federal Constituency.
Reacting, counsel to Massi, Mr Yakubu Bello, said that his client would appeal the judgment
The two senators commended the tribunal for the judgment and called on their challengers to join hands in moving the state and their constituents
forward.
Elections into both houses of the federal legislature took place on the 23rd of February after it was initially postponed by a week.
