Nigeria’s national basketball team, D’Tigers, on Friday secured an 83 to 66 points win over Cote d’Ivoire at the ongoing FIBA World Cup in China.
D’Tigers survived a late rally from the Ivorians to record their second win at the World Cup and also stay on course to pick an automatic ticket to the 2020 Olympics Games.
The Ivorians switched gear in the second quarter by taking a 2 points lead, but Nigeria quickly bounced back to end the quarter 37 to 35 points.
Nigeria won the first and third quarters, Cote d’ivoire won the third quarter while the 4th quarter was a 20 to 20 points draw.
The win brightens Nigeria’s chances of picking Africa’s only automatic ticket to the Olympic games next year.
