Ekiti State Governor has signed a Memorandum of Understanding MoU to return the oldest school in the state, Christ’s School, Ado Ekiti, to its original founders.
Kayode Fayemi also participated in the enrollment of pupils into public primary schools as the 2019/2020 academic year commences.
TVC News Correspondent, Akin Ogunmola reports that Christ’s School, Ado Ekiti was established about 90 years ago by the Anglican Missionary but taken over by Government in 1976.
After handing over the signed MoU to the Bishop of the Ekiti Anglican Diocese Christopher Omotunde who led a team of distinguished old students of the school, the Governor told newsmen that other original founders of secondary schools in the state could follow the Christ’s School example.
The Governor later traveled to Ekiti Southwest Local Government headquarters, Ilawe Ekiti to participate in the enrollment of new intakes into primary schools.
Kayode Fayemi explained to journalists at the venue that the introduction of education levy by his predecessor in office has made Ekiti to drop from its number one position in primary school enrollment in the country.
The Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board also itemised some other steps being taken to restore the lost glory of education in the state.
Ekiti State is currently recruiting teachers into the primary schools as part of efforts to improve the quality of education.
