Three people have been killed and one person injured after a speedboat crashed in the lagoon city of Venice as it tried to break a speed record.
Motorboat designer Fabio Buzzi was one of the dead.
The other two victims were British.
A fourth person on board, who is Italian, was badly injured
The boat is believed to have smashed into the San Nicoletto dam in the evening as it attempted to make a new Montecarlo to Venice record.
The boat was said to be twenty metres long and could reach speeds of 130 kilometres (80 miles) an hour.
