The hearing of the bail application for the convener of the Revolution Now protest Omoyele Sowore and his co defendant Olawale Bakare is ongoing at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Justice Chioma Ojukwu had fixed 4th of October for the hearing of the matter after the department of state security refused to set the defendant free even when he was asked to be released forthwith by a court of competent jurisdiction.
Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana is seeking the release of the 1st defendant on self recognition.
He also cited as precedence the protest of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2003 after he lost the presidential election and the court ruled in his favour upholding his right to protest.
Mr Sowore is being held on seven counts charge of treasonable felony, cybercrimes and money laundering.
TVC News gathered that officials of the Department of state services prevented Journalists from taking pictures before the arrival of the Judge.
The court is currently on recess and will reconvene at 1pm.
There was a mild fracas in the courtroom between officers of the DSS and the defense lawyers few minutes after the court went on recess.
The security operatives attempted to cease the phones of people taking pictures of the defendant but met stiff resistant from lawyers who claimed it is an infringement on human rights.
The judge will give her ruling when the court reconvenes at 1pm.
