The Benue State Government has inaugurated a committee to screen Benue symbols suitable for the state’s identity.
Governor Hyacinth Alia inaugurated the 53 man committee at Government House Makurdi.
TVC state correspondent, Mayowa Okunato reports that the committee has two weeks to execute its mandate.
It is the beginning of a search, a quest for a common identity that will become the state’s heritage, culture, uniqueness, strength and potential.
These were words of the Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia as he inaugurated a committee to screen state’s symbols.
Governor Alia, who was represented by Secretary to the State Government Deborah Aber, stated that the Alia government is committed to ensuring that the state fulfils its full potential, and tasked members of the committee with ensuring that the best emerge as state icons.
The Governor emphasised the importance of taking responsibility, saying that members must assure entire honesty, sincerity, and transparency in the process, which is fundamental to the state’s identity.
This assignment according to members of the committee is vital and requires diligent reasoning and selection.
The committee pledged commitment towards delivering on the mandate.
The primary responsibility of the Committee is to screen about 200 entries to get winners.
