An Oyo State High Court, sitting at Ring Road, Ibadan has granted bail to Olori Naomi Silekunola, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, and Comrade Abdulahi Fasasi the Principal of Islamic High School Orita Bashorun in Ibadan.
Justice K. B Olawoyin, who presided over Court 8, where the ruling for the bail application was argued said his decision was based on the application filed by the Counsels of the trio.
The Court had fixed Monday January 13th for the ruling after Silekunola, Hamzat and Fasasi’s lawyer on January 7 argued the bail application.
The Judge gave five conditions for the bail which include: N10 million and two sureties who must submit landed documents within the jurisdiction of the court.
The other conditions are that the applicant must deposit their international passports with the court and are barred from granting any form of interview during the pendency of the case.
The Trio were arrested in December 2024 following a stampede at an empowerment programme organised by a foundation founded by the former wife of the Oonirisa, Olori Naomi Silekunola with Oriyomi Hamzat, proprietor of popular Ibadan Radio Station, Agidigbo FM, as Media partner while Comrade Abdullahi Fasasi is the principal of the Islamic High school where the empowerment and stampeded occurred.
The stampede led to the death of 35 persons.
