A collision between two tankers, one carrying petrol and the other diesel, has resulted in a significant fuel spill on the Gaya-Dutse road in Jigawa State, Nigeria.
Eyewitnesses report that the accident occurred when a bus driver attempted to overtake one of the tankers, causing a chain reaction that led to the collision.
The bus driver fled the scene immediately after the incident.
Both drivers of the tankers sustained injuries, but fortunately, no fatalities have been reported.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and firefighters responded swiftly to the scene, preventing people from scooping the spilled fuel and diesel.
This incident is the latest in a series of petrol tanker accidents in Jigawa State, including the tragic Majiya tanker explosion that claimed the lives of over 219 people.
The FRSC has attributed the cause of the accident to reckless driving, highlighting the need for increased caution and adherence to traffic regulations on the state’s roads.
