Experts in the health sector are advocating for a collective approach towards achieving universal health coverage in Nigeria
They want this done by improving mechanisms in health insurance and the mobilisation of resources.
These issues formed discussions at the UHC day commemoration roundtable in Abuja.

This year’s theme for the universal health coverage is Health, it’s on the government.
Experts say although government needs to be at the forefront of this, it will still take a lot more effort to achieve UHC for all citizens.
They admit progress has been made but involving the poor and vulnerable in getting access to proper healthcare needs to be improved.
They believe that enrolling more Nigerians in health insurance is the first step toward universal health coverage.
This will also assist to decrease the misery of the over 70% of Nigerians who still pay out of pocket for healthcare.
This conference will reflect on Nigeria’s progress toward UHC, highlight current issues, and provide solutions to build a health system that works for all Nigerians without leaving anybody behind.
