A gas explosion has destroyed a gas plant, a factory, and several properties in Sabon Wuse, Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State.
The incident occurred late Saturday night.
According to the Niger state Emergency Management Agency at about 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, a massive explosion was heard in Tasiu Gas Plant, located beside Kalasma Filling Station along the Kaduna Expressway in Sabon Wuse.
The explosion was triggered during the transloading of gas from a trailer tanker to the plant’s surface tank.
The resulting fire completely consumed both the tanker and the gas plant.
A nearby car, belonging to Abubakar Yakubu, was also destroyed.
The fire also spread to Ngeil Grains Processing Factory, located behind the gas plant, where approximately 550 bags of beans and six bags of soya beans were lost to the flames.
As of the time of this report, no casualties have been recorded, and the fire has been brought under control.
