Family, friends and political associates of former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu have marked the first anniversary of his death at his country home, Owo.
Those who attended the memorial service remembered him as a fearless leader and a staunch supporter of good governance.
Former Governor Akeredolu was governor of Ondo state, from February 24, 2017 until his demise on December 27, 2023 after a protracted battle with prostrate cancer.
The congregation at the service joined the widow of the former governor, Betty Akeredolu, the children, and siblings of the late governor in a special thanksgiving possession.

Speaking at the one-year remembrance service, held at St Andrew’s Anglican Church in Owo, governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa who was , represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami said the former governor contributed immensely role to the advancement of democratic ideals.
At a separate event in Owo, a book titled; The Life and Times of Oluwarotimi Akeredolu written by Wale Okediran with a foreword by Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, was launched as part of events to mark the one year anniversary of Akeredolu’s death.
Former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi stood against injustice.
A status was unveiled on behalf of the former governor in the ancient town of Owo
