The Federal Government has announced Friday, 18th April, and Monday, 21st April 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebrations.
The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
In a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the minister extended warm felicitations to Christians across Nigeria, urging them to reflect on the significance of Easter—a period that commemorates the sacrifice, love, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Easter follows the 40-day Lenten season and encompasses Good Friday, Easter Sunday (celebrating Christ’s resurrection), and Easter Monday.
The minister emphasised the importance of these observances, which embody virtues of redemption, hope, and renewal.
Hon. Tunji-Ojo called on Nigerians to use the holiday period to pray for the nation’s peace, unity, and progress.
He also reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at driving sustainable development across the country.
The minister encouraged citizens to demonstrate kindness and goodwill toward one another, fostering a spirit of communal harmony.
He wished all Christians a joyful Easter celebration and extended warm holiday greetings to all Nigerians.
