Justice Iyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to release business executive and socialite, Aisha Achimugu, within 24hours.
Achimugu had appeared before Justice Ekwo following an order made by the court ordering her to appear before it.
She had filed a fundamental right enforcement suit against the EFCC, DSS, NSCDS, police and the NIS for alleged violations of her rights.
In response to her application the EFCC had held that she want granted administrative bail but failed to appear to report back to the commission.
EFCC’s response to her application neccessitated the order made by Justice Ekwo for Achimugu to appear before the EFCC on 29th April and be brought to court on 30th April.
However she was arrested by the EFCC on 29th April at the Nnamdi Azikiwe international Airport on her back from London.
At the resumed sitting Justice Ekwo called counsel in the matter to his chamber.
After the court reconvened the court ruled that in view of the affidavit of facts filed by Achimugu, she had being granted administrative bail by the EFCC.
The EFCC is to conclude the issue of administrative bail within 24hours
Parties are to report back to the on 2nd May on process made regarding the court order
