The former Head of Service in Rivers state, George Nwaeke, has asked President Tinubu to establish an independent investigation into claims of widespread corruption in the state.
He also dismissed allegations that he was abducted.
Weeks after President Bola Tinubu proclaimed a state of emergency rule in Rivers state over a protracted political crisis, allegations of corruption are now flying against the governor.
Mr. George Nweke recently resigned as the Head of Service in Rivers state.

In a video that went viral on the social media, Mr. Nweke accused the suspended government of Siminalayi Fubara of corrupt practices; allegedly including theft of public funds and assets.
He accused Mr. Fubara of facilitating the arson at the Rivers state House of Assembly through his Chief of Staff.
The former Head of Service also disclosed an alleged affiliation between the suspended governor and former militants determined to destroy pipelines in the state.
In a swift response, the suspended governor dismissed the allegations; insisting they were politically motivated.
George Nweke’s wife, Florence raised an alarm that her husband was kidnapped and that he made the allegations under duress.
Barely, twenty four hours after, Mr. Nweke was back in the media.
He insisted he was not kidnapped and was not forced by anyone or group to make the revelations.
Mr. Nweke believes his wife’s claim was as a result of perceived threat to her life.

Having raised these allegations against the suspended governor, the former Head of Service says he awaits the invitation of the nation’s anti graft agencies for detailed information and proof of his claims.
