The Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, has flagged off the construction of three health facilities that will enhance healthcare delivery in the state.
He also cautioned health workers urging them to improve efficiency.
Governor Umar Namadi also directed health monitors in Jigawa State to report any incidents of poor service by healthcare workers, supported with evidence.
He said this during the foundation-laying ceremony for a Diagnostic Centre, a Cardiac Centre and a Cryo-Oxygen Plant in Dutse, the governor expressed concern over ongoing reports of negligence in some health facilities.
He said the state government would take firm action against any worker found wanting, adding that both clinical and non-clinical staff must take their duties seriously.
The governor described the construction of the three centres as a “game changer” in the state’s health sector, and it aligns with his administration’s 12-point development agenda.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Abdullahi Kainuwa, said the government is committed to improving access to efficient, innovative, and affordable healthcare across the state.
The Jigawa State government has recruited over 920 primary healthcare workers and 200 clinical staff workers for secondary facilities, while an additional 1,000 workers have been engaged on an ad-hoc basis.
The administration has also completed and expanded the Orthopaedic Hospital in Gumel and upgraded Specialist Hospitals in Hadejia and Kazaure.
