Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has launched the second phase of an empowerment program with the distribution of livestock to women across the 44 local government areas.
The Governor also attended the graduation ceremony of 340 youths trained at the state’s Horticulture and Livestock Institute.

Women in their thousands gathered in Mariri for the second phase of Governor Abba Yusuf’s empowerment initiative aimed at tackling poverty and promoting self-reliance.
The program, implemented under the Kano Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP), focuses on livestock fattening as a means to enhance livelihoods, improve food security, and create wealth in Kano’s rural communities.
Each beneficiary received three goats to support their livestock businesses.
A total of 7,158 goats have been distributed to 2,386 women so far.
Similarly, Governor Yusuf attended the graduation of 340 students from the Horticulture and Livestock Institute in Bagauda.
The students were trained in various agricultural courses to promote self-reliance and enhance agricultural development.
Governor Yusuf also visited the Dakatsalle trailer park, which has been abandoned for years.
He expressed his administration’s determination to revive the park and address the persistent traffic congestion caused by heavy-duty vehicles.
Governor Yusuf expressed concern over the frequent road blockages caused by heavy-duty vehicles, which disrupt traffic flow and inconvenience road users across the metropolis.
