The Jigawa State government has donated two Toyota Hilux vehicles and 12 motorcycles to security agencies to strengthen efforts in tackling crime and maintaining peace in the state.
The vehicles were handed over to the police, the Nigerian Army’s 26 Armoured Brigade in Dutse, and the Nigerian Immigration Service.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim, said the donation was part of the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property.
He was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Council Affairs/Special Services, Alhaji Abba Muhammad, who reiterated the administration’s pledge to support security forces.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Tijjani Murtala and Colonel D. Yakubu of the 26 Armoured Brigade, who received the vehicles on behalf of their respective agencies, thanked the government and assured that the resources would be put to good use.
Jigawa is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most peaceful states, and authorities say they are committed to sustaining security in the region.
