Jigawa State High Court has sentenced two convicts, Hamimu Awwalu and Ashiru Salisu, to death by hanging for culpable homicide.
The court, presided over by Honourable Justice Ahmed Mohammed Abubakar, found the duo guilty of conspiracy, deceitful abduction for ransom, and culpable homicide.
The convicts were accused of causing the death of Tahir Adamu Hassan on April 4, 2024, at Sabalari Village in Dutse Local Government Area.
After presenting four witnesses, the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt, establishing that the convicts intentionally caused the victim’s death.
The court sentenced the convicts to one year’s imprisonment each for conspiracy and death by hanging for abduction and homicide.
Although the convicts showed remorse, the court upheld the law, emphasising that violent crimes will not be tolerated and perpetrators will be held accountable.
This judgment demonstrates the commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice for victims and their families.
