The Lagos State Government has confirmed it will complete the entire 68-kilometre Green Line rail project in one phase, abandoning the phased approach used for previous metro lines.
The route, running from Marina to the Lekki Free Zone, aims to cut congestion and boost public transport capacity.
Unlike the staged rollout of the Blue and Red Lines, the Green Line will open only after full completion, according to Commissioner for Physical Planning Oluyinka Olumide.
China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) has been contracted to deliver the project, with a memorandum of understanding already signed.
Officials have disclosed the broad alignment but withheld detailed station locations pending ongoing Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA).
Residents along the corridor have been urged to regularise property documents to avoid complications during construction.
The State government says the line will provide “sustainable mobility solutions” for Lagos’ expanding population.
