Lagos State is about to spearhead the distribution of six million free clean cookstoves in June starting from Makoko.
This was revealed at a 3-day implementation retreat, themed, ‘Clean Cooking Access for Africa – Leaving No One Behind.
The three-day technical session is expected to discuss on ways to eradicate the health and environmental hazards linked with the use of firewood to cook and the need for government to improve the nation’s capacity to harness Carbon-credit.
On his part, the Managing Director of Green Plinth Africa, explained that twenty States of the Federation have keyed into the “80 million Clean Cooking Stoves Project” to reduce carbon emissions and encourage tree planting to address the challenge of deforestation.
The initiative also includes planting 300 million economic trees across Badagry, Epe, Ikorodu, and establishing a state-of-the-art clean cookstove manufacturing facility.
