Gunmen suspected to be Lakurawa Terorist on Sunday attacked Morai village under Augie local government area of Kebbi state and Killed at least thirteen members of vigilante.
Activities of the group has again ramped up in recent days following an earlier offensive by the Military and other secufrity agencies late 2024.
The Defence Headquarters had announced that members of the group had been pursued back to Niger Republic where they are believed to have originated from.
This latest attack proves that the group may be more resilient than originally thought and it may take time for its activities to be curtailed in Nigeria.
Kebbi State has been on the receiving end of most of its attacks since it was first recognised as a distinct group different from ISWAP, Boko Haram and Ansarul Terror groups.
The Federal Government has in response to the activities of groups like Lakurawa launched the first batch of a 2400 strong contingent of Special Forces Troops whose main job will be to go after them and eliminate their leaders and others.
