The official signing into law of the local government autonomy by president, Bola Tinubu, has continued to receive commendation from concerned stakeholders and citizens across the country.
The leadership of the National Conference of the Councilors believes that President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly have achieved a significant milestone by signing into law the long-awaited bill.
With the implementation of this bill, local governments will now make decisions and take actions without seeking the approval from state governments.
Also, the local governments can now manage their finances, collect revenues, and allocate resources without state government interference.
The national leadership of the conference of local government councilors is in Jos, for the inauguration of the North Central leadership of the forum.
The local government autonomy law was key among the issues discussed in this meeting.
The councilors conference believes that meaningful grassroots development will now be more evident at the local level following this development.
The North Central and Plateau newly sworn-in leaders are called upon to prioritise government policies that support grassroots development in the interest of all.
