The Nigerian Navy has challenged its personnel to brace up and confront emerging security threats on the nation’s waters head-on.
Authorities issued the charge during a Navy fitness and resilience event tagged Exercise Iron Man held in Rivers State.
Exercise Iron Man marked the grand finale of a week-long competition featuring cadets from the Nigerian Defence Academy Regular Course, Direct Short Service Course, and Special Duty Pre-Commission Course.
The exercise took place at the Nigerian Naval College in Ebubu Community, Eleme Local Government Area.
Designed to push boundaries, the physically demanding drills tested the cadets’ endurance, mental toughness, and ability to perform under extreme pressure—all qualities the Navy considers essential in molding combat-ready officers.
402 cadets participated in a 10-kilometer endurance run, boat handling, obstacle navigation, and combat swimming challenges.
Beyond physical fitness, the Nigerian Navy says Exercise Iron Man aims to instill discipline, professionalism, teamwork, and integrity in its future officers.
At the end of the grueling contest, Officer Cadet Saeed Saeed earned the coveted title of IRON MAN.
While Officer Cadet Victoria Ugba’s exceptional display saw her clinch the title of IRON WOMAN.
