As the world commemorates the International Day for Universal Access to Information, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in collaboration with CSOs in the Cyber and information sector, have called on Federal Government and Nigerians to be proactive in promoting initiatives that address cyber threats .
They urge Governments at all levels to encourage cyber education .
This is was disclosed at an event to unveil the 2023 teen cyber awareness and data compliance in Abuja .
Nigeria continues to experience an increase in cyber crime activities making cyber security an increasingly important issue.
Several laws have been implemented by the Nigerian Government in recent times to address this issue.

But it has not yielded much results as it has become more prevalent across the country.
Experts in the financial service sector have disclosed that Nigeria loses about two hundred billion Naira yearly to cyber crime menace.
This group believes to combat cyber crime and improve cyber security , the Federal Government needs to introduce cyber education to Nigerian youths in secondary and tertiary institutions.
At an event, the National Orientation Agency acknowledged that the internet has been hijacked to perpetuate evil activities and there is an urgent need for the Federal Government to promote cyber education to curb this menace.
Other key note speakers at the event all agree that parents need to monitor what their children do online and Government should always support any initiative about cyber education.
Students on their part, encourage their peers to avoid going through unrecognized websites and report anything suspicious to their parents.
