Normalcy has been restored in Dutse, Jigawa State Capital, following a petrol tanker explosion at the Shakkato Filling Station.
The incident, which occurred at around 7:00 pm, did not record any loss of life or casualties.
Eyewitnesses report that the fire started while a tanker was discharging petroleum products into an underground tank.
The flames quickly spread, becoming uncontrollable.
Swift response from the police and fire services helped contain the situation.
A team of policemen, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Dutse, rushed to the scene, while the International Airport, State, and Federal Fire Services were also deployed.
The combined efforts of the firefighters and good Samaritans successfully quenched the fire.
Preliminary investigations suggested that the ignition of petroleum products during discharge caused the fire.
The extent of property damage is still being assessed.
Motorists can now freely use the road linking to the Shakkato Filling Station, with normalcy fully restored in the area.
