The Niger state Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) says seven persons died in a tanker explosion that occurred in Karamin Rami village of Mashegu local government area.
In a press statement released by the agency, the incident occurred when a tanker truck trying to manoeuvre its way due to bad roads without shoulder fell off and it’s content(PMS) poured into a near by stream where dry season farmers were working on their rice field .
The PMS came into contact with the farmers’ water pump, which was pumping water, and started a fire, resulting in the explosion.
The catastrophe killed seven farmers, destroyed farmlands, and left one person in need of medical attention at the Saho Rami Primary Healthcare Centre.
