Police in Jigawa State say they have arrested seven people, including an 18-year-old, for drug-related offences.
The Officers also detained five others suspected of vandalising electrical infrastructure in Kazaure Local Government Area.
The arrests were made during a series of operations targeting drug trafficking and infrastructure vandalism.
According to Jigawa State Police Public Relations Officer SP Lawan Shisu Adam 18-year-old Abba Iliya, from Rimin Sara, was arrested alongside six others for alleged involvement in the use and supply of illicit drugs.
He said several substances, including Exol 703, D5 870, Lara 200, Diazepam, Tramadol, and rubber solution where recovered.
They also seized 48 sachets of “Suck and Die,” a toxic substance, along with 23 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said in a statement that the suspects had been charged in court.
In a separate operation, officers arrested two men suspected of vandalising streetlight cables and conduit service wires.
The suspects, identified as Sadik Sani and Ahmed Rabi’u, were allegedly caught in the act.
During questioning, they admitted to selling stolen materials to a scrap dealer, who is now on the run.
Police also detained three others accused of stealing 2,000 metres of high-tension wire from Faru and Daba villages.
The suspects Abdu Ibrahim, Idris Adamant, and Musa Magaji told officers they had been supplying the stolen cables to Musa Yahya, who was aware they were government property.
All five suspects have been charged in court as police continue efforts to tackle crime in the state.
