Security operatives in Kebbi State successfully rescued 36 kidnapped farmers in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.
The incident occurred on December 8, 2024, when heavily armed gunmen barricaded the Mairairai-Bena road and abducted the victims as they were returning from their farms.
Upon receiving reports of the attack, a combined team of the Police, Army, and local vigilantes mobilized swiftly to the scene. The operatives engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, overpowering them and forcing the criminals to flee into the forest with gunshot wounds. All 36 abductees were rescued unharmed.
The Commissioner of Police for Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, praised the operatives for their bravery, professionalism, and swift response. He urged security personnel to remain committed to ensuring that Kebbi State does not become a haven for criminals.
CP Sani also emphasized the need for continued collaboration among the Police, military, and local vigilantes to intensify efforts against banditry and other criminal activities in the region.
The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families.
