Pascal Dozie, the celebrated Nigerian entrepreneur and founder of Diamond Bank, has died at the age of 86.
Sources close to the family confirmed he succumbed to age-related illness.
A towering figure in Nigeria’s financial sector, Dozie was also chairman of Pan-Atlantic University and founded the African Development Consulting Group, advising multinationals such as Nestlé and Pfizer.
He previously served as MTN Group chairman before stepping down in favour of Ernest Ndukwe.
Born on 9 April 1939 in Egbu, Owerri, Dozie held a degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and a master’s in Administrative Science from City University, London.
His contributions to banking earned him the Order of the Niger (OON) national honour.
Dozie, who co-founded African Capital Alliance and Kunoch Limited, is survived by his wife, Chinyere, five children, and extended family.
