The House of Representatives has asked the Nigerian Park Management Service to partner with its counterparts in Cameroon to contain rampaging elephants invading farmlands and killing humans.
The resolution is based on a motion of urgent national importance by Victor Abang from Cross River state.
Victor Abang’s motion is titled “Wild elephants invade, kill citizens, and destroy crops in the Boki local government area.”
In it, he stated that between January 6th and 15th, and from February 8th to the present, rampaging wild elephants have been invading Bamba, Butatong, and surrounding communities in Cross River state’s Boki local government area, killing citizens and destroying farmlands, economic trees, and crops worth millions of Naira.
The lawmaker is worried that apart from the loss of lives, the economic activities of the people have been adversely impacted.

He wants the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, to provide relief to people affected by this elephant raid.
