Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara, has extended an invitation to the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, and other members of the Assembly for a meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
This invitation, issued by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, is notable as it marks the first time Governor Fubara has formally addressed Amaewhule as the Speaker of the Assembly.
Dated 7th March, the invitation references the governor’s letter of 5th March, in which he acknowledged receipt of the Supreme Court’s judgment.
The invitation states: “And he has, therefore, directed to invite you and your colleagues, the Honourable members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, to a meeting.”
The agenda for the meeting includes discussions on providing a suitable venue for the Assembly’s sittings, addressing outstanding remuneration and allowances for the lawmakers, presenting the budget, and deliberating on other matters crucial to the State’s development.
The lawmakers have been requested to meet with the governor at his office on Monday, 10th March, at 10 a.m.
