The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the gun incident in Montenegro, northwest of the capital, Podgorica, which killed and injured dozens of people.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) emphasised that the UAE strongly condemns these criminal acts and rejects all forms of violence that jeopardize security and stability.
The Ministry expressed its solidarity with Montenegro’s government and people, as well as the relatives of the victims of this heinous criminal act, and wished all those injured a speedy recovery.
Earlier on Thursday, a man shot dead 12 people in a small village in Montenegro before dying of self-inflicted wounds, according to authorities, in one of the Balkan nation’s bloodiest mass shootings.
On Wednesday afternoon, 45-year-old Aleksandar Aco Martinovic opened fire during a brawl at a Cetinje restaurant, killing four people.
He then killed eight individuals, two of whom were children, in three separate locations, according to prosecutor Andrijana Nastic.
According to authorities, the victims had a strong relationship with the gunman. “All the victims were his godfathers, friends… the motive is still unknown,” stated national police head Lazar Scepanovic.
